We are deeply saddened to report on a disturbing incident that has occurred at Bechem Presbyterian Senior High School (PRESEC) in the Tano South Municipality of Ahafo Region. Three final year students of PRESEC, namely Agyem Frimpong, Emmanuel Ankama, and an individual identified only as Osman, have been arrested by the police on allegations of defiling a form one student of the school.
According to reports, the three suspects, along with three other final year students who are currently at large, are accused of gang-raping a 15-year-old form one student. Additionally, a female student named Kyeremaa Hamida has also been taken into police custody for her alleged involvement in aiding the suspects during the reprehensible act.
The incident is said to have taken place on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at approximately 2130 hours. It is reported that Hamida lured the unsuspecting victim into a dilapidated structure where the suspects took turns to perpetrate the heinous act.
A medical report from the Duayaw-Nkwanta St John of God Catholic Hospital has confirmed that the victim was indeed subjected to sexual assault.
The perpetrators are currently in police custody and are awaiting arraignment before the court for prosecution. The authorities are conducting thorough investigations into this distressing matter.
We urge the public to allow the legal process to take its course and to respect the privacy and well-being of the victim during this challenging time.
As an educational institution, we are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our students, and we will cooperate fully with the authorities to address this deeply troubling incident.
Our thoughts are with the victim and their family, and we are providing all necessary support to them during this difficult period.
