We would like to address the recent comments made by DCOP Mr Gabriel Prince Waabu during a panel discussion on JoyNews on Monday 19th February 2024, regarding election security. The Ghana Police Service hereby dissociates itself from the remarks made by the officer and emphasizes that they do not reflect the official position of the Police administration.

It is important to clarify that the statements made by DCOP Mr Gabriel Prince Waabu are unfounded and are not representative of the Ghana Police Service's stance on election security. We wish to express our sincere apologies to the Ghana Armed Forces for any misunderstanding or inconvenience caused by these remarks.

Furthermore, we want to assure the public that the conduct of the officer in question is currently undergoing internal disciplinary processes within the Ghana Police Service. We are committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity within our organization.

We take this opportunity to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens, particularly during electoral processes. The Ghana Police Service remains dedicated to working collaboratively with all relevant stakeholders to maintain peace and order in our society.

It is our hope that this clarification provides reassurance to the public and reinforces our commitment to upholding the values of transparency and accountability within the Ghana Police Service.

We appreciate the understanding and continued support of the public as we strive to fulfill our mandate of serving and protecting the people of Ghana.
