We recently received news of a significant arrest made by the Elubo Sector Command of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS). A 32-year-old Ivorian murder suspect, Nduoba Essoi Fulgence, was apprehended at Edwakpole, a village near Anyinase in the Ellembele District of the Western Region.
According to a statement signed and issued by Inspector Moses Manford Akakpo, Western Regional Public Affairs Officer, GIS, the suspect had allegedly committed murder in Ivory Coast and fled to Ghana. The arrest, which took place on Tuesday, was a result of intelligence received from the Ivorian Police Commissaire in Noe, on the Ivorian side of the Elubo Border.
A surveillance team comprising Immigration Officers from the Elubo Sector Command, under the leadership of Assistant Commissioner of Immigration (ACI) Joshua Krakue, gathered preliminary information indicating that the fugitive might be residing with relatives at Edwakpole village, approximately 50 kilometers from Elubo.
Following this lead, a search party was dispatched on Tuesday, April 2, and after an intensive two-hour operation, Fulgence was successfully identified and arrested in a house believed to be his family residence at Edwakpole village. Subsequently, he was handed over to the Ivorian Police Commissaries in Noe.
The Ghana Immigration Service expressed its gratitude to all parties involved in the collaborative effort to apprehend the suspect.
This successful arrest demonstrates the commitment and effectiveness of both the Ghana Immigration Service and its collaboration with international counterparts in upholding justice and security within the region. Such proactive measures serve to maintain public safety and reinforce the importance of cross-border cooperation in law enforcement efforts.
