We regret to report a tragic incident in Mamponteng, a district within the Kwabre East Municipal Assembly. A man, believed to be in his late 40s, has been found dead under suspicious circumstances. It is suspected that he may have been lynched, although the exact cause of death remains unclear.

According to emerging details from the area, the deceased was allegedly a suspected thief whose operation had been unsuccessful. This has raised concerns among residents, who have pointed out that the area has become increasingly dangerous due to the invasion of thieves.

Residents have voiced their grievances, citing incidents of break-ins and theft of valuables from their homes. They have also expressed fear of being attacked by these criminals and have reportedly contemplated taking matters into their own hands to deal with any perpetrators caught in the act.

It is believed that the deceased may have been apprehended in another community and subsequently brought to the location where his body was discovered. The presence of scissors and a stone near the body suggests a violent altercation leading to his demise.

In response to these troubling developments, Darlington Benjamin Kankam, the Assembly member for the area, has acknowledged the infiltration of thieves and has pledged to collaborate with other stakeholders to establish a community watchdog committee. This initiative aims to address the prevailing security concerns and uphold law and order within the area.

Mr. Kankam further revealed that since assuming office a few months ago, the issue of theft has been a significant challenge for the residents. The establishment of a community watchdog committee is intended to mitigate these challenges and ensure the safety and well-being of the community members.

As this situation unfolds, we extend our condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased. We also hope for swift and effective measures to address the security issues in Mamponteng, promoting a safer environment for all residents.
