One suspect arrested in connection with shooting of soldier at Kasoa

We are deeply saddened to report on the unfortunate shooting incident that occurred at Millenium City, Kasoa, in the Central Region, resulting in the tragic death of a soldier. The Ghana Police Service has taken swift action in response to this incident, and a suspect, Benlord Ababio, has been arrested in connection with the shooting.



According to a statement issued by Assistant Commissioner of Police Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of Public Affairs, preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect allegedly shot the soldier at Millenium City Kasoa on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at approximately 1620 hours. The victim sustained gunshot wounds and was immediately taken to the Mother and Child Hospital at Kasoa for medical treatment. Despite efforts to save his life, he was later pronounced dead by medical authorities.


Currently, Benlord Ababio is in custody and is cooperating with the ongoing police investigation. Additionally, the leadership of the Police Service has been in communication with the leadership of the Ghana Armed Forces as part of the collaborative efforts to thoroughly investigate this incident.
