We are appalled by the recent incident that took place in Lakeside Community 4, Last Stop, where a lady fell victim to a robbery. The Adentan Circuit Court has sentenced a 35-year-old carpenter, Kingsley Mawuli Kplende, to 15 years in prison for robbing Grace Dzre Lawal of her iPhone 11 valued at GHC3,500.

According to the prosecution, Kplende used a pair of scissors to threaten the victim before snatching her phone and fleeing the scene. The court, presided over by Mrs. Sedinam Awo Kwadam, convicted Kplende based on his guilty plea and sentenced him to 15 years of hard labor.

It is disheartening to hear about such incidents in our community. The safety and security of our residents, especially women, should be a top priority. We commend the swift action taken by the authorities and the individuals who apprehended the convict.

Furthermore, we urge everyone to remain vigilant and cautious, especially during late hours. It is essential to report any suspicious activities to the relevant authorities to prevent such crimes from occurring in the future.

We hope that this verdict brings some form of closure to the victim, Grace Dzre Lawal, and serves as a deterrent to others who may contemplate committing similar offenses.

Let us work together to create a safer environment for everyone in our community.
