Ashanti Region: Three people shot dead at Barniekrom; Police commence investigation

We are deeply saddened to report on the unfortunate incident that occurred at Barniekrom near Mankranso in the Ashanti Region, where three individuals were shot by suspect Osman Majeed. The Ghana Police Service has swiftly initiated an investigation into this distressing matter.



On Tuesday, 2nd July, 2024, the Police received distressing information regarding the shooting of three individuals by the suspect, who claimed that they were part of a group intending to harm him. In response, a police team promptly visited the scene of the incident and ensured that the bodies of the deceased were conveyed to the morgue for preservation and subsequent autopsy.


Furthermore, crucial exhibits including a motorbike, 8 spent cartridges, and four cutlasses were retrieved from the scene for forensic analysis.


At present, efforts are underway to locate suspect Osman Majeed, who is currently at large. The Police are actively pursuing all leads to ensure his swift apprehension and to bring him to justice.


In light of these distressing events, we urge members of the community to remain calm as the investigation continues. The Ghana Police Service is fully committed to uncovering the truth and ensuring that the perpetrator is held accountable for this heinous act.


Our thoughts and condolences go out to the families and loved ones of the deceased during this difficult time. We assure the public that every effort is being made to bring closure to this tragic incident through a thorough and impartial investigation.
