In the early hours of Thursday, July 24, 2025, swift police action prevented a potentially catastrophic incident at the Tema General Hospital in Ghana. An armed assailant, who had earlier unleashed violence at Ashaiman Tulaku, killing one and injuring three others, was intercepted before he could carry out further attacks at the hospital.

 The Ashaiman Tulaku Shooting

The series of events began on the night of Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at approximately 8:00 PM, when an unidentified gunman opened fire on a group of men seated at Ashaiman Tulaku. Armed with a sophisticated AK47 assault rifle, the assailant killed one individual, identified as Ibrahim Mumuni, and injured two others—Shehu Wuni and Majeed Mohammed.

Eyewitness accounts revealed that the gunman fled the scene on a getaway motorbike, but not before encountering a tribesman of the deceased who was rushing to the scene on another motorcycle. Sensing the possibility of being linked to the crime, the gunman attempted to intercept the tribesman. However, the latter managed to escape. Undeterred, the gunman pursued him to his residence near Christian Village and opened fire again, leaving him for dead before fleeing the area.

 The Hospital Incident

Following the initial attack, the injured victims were rushed to Tema General Hospital for urgent medical attention. As news of the violence spread, a crowd of approximately fifty men—reportedly from the same town as the victims—gathered at the hospital to show solidarity with their injured tribesmen.

Meanwhile, police intelligence personnel were tasked with transporting some of the injured patients to Sonotech, a diagnostic facility located across the road from the hospital. As they approached the hospital gate upon their return, officers noticed a motorbike parked suspiciously in an obscured corner near the entrance.

Upon spotting the police vehicle and its headlights, one of the motorbike's occupants fled into a nearby bush, leaving behind a sack. The other accomplice quickly sped off on the motorbike. Upon inspection of the abandoned sack, police discovered an AK47 assault rifle loaded with double magazines—a chilling indication of potential violence that had been narrowly averted.

Police Response and Investigation

The swift actions of law enforcement foiled what could have been a second wave of attacks targeting specific individuals within the hospital premises. While the motive behind these incidents remains unclear, police believe the suspects were targeting particular individuals linked to the earlier shooting at Ashaiman Tulaku.

The Tema Regional Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation into these events and is working diligently to apprehend those responsible for this string of violent acts. A deep-throat source within the police command disclosed that officers are pursuing leads to uncover any connections between the assailant and his victims.

 Community Concerns

The incidents have raised concerns among residents in Tema and Ashaiman about escalating violence and its implications for public safety. The solidarity shown by community members at Tema General Hospital underscores the deep bonds within local tribes but also highlights potential tensions that could arise from such targeted attacks.

 Conclusion

This harrowing series of events serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilant law enforcement and community cooperation in maintaining public safety. The swift actions of the Tema police undoubtedly prevented further bloodshed and safeguarded lives at Tema General Hospital. As investigations continue, it is hoped that justice will be served and that measures will be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
