In a significant development, the Bono East Regional Police Command has apprehended a man for allegedly operating an unlicensed medical facility in Yeji Zongo, Bono East Region, Ghana. The suspect, identified as Hanson Osei, is reported to have been running the clinic for over a decade without proper authorization.

The arrest took place on September 28, 2025, following intelligence gathered by the police that led them to Osei's residence. According to a statement issued by the Bono East Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Appiah Danquah, the suspect had transformed a chamber-and-hall room into a makeshift clinic. A search of the premises revealed several used medical supplies, including needles, malaria injection bottles, infusion rubber sachets, and other clinical items.

During interrogation, Osei confessed to operating the facility for the past 11 years. The police noted that the suspect had been providing medical services to unsuspecting residents despite lacking the necessary licenses and credentials required to run a healthcare facility.

The case has since been brought before the Tuobodom District Court. Osei has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to reappear in court on October 6, 2025. The authorities are expected to continue their investigations into the matter as they seek to understand the full scope of Osei's operations and any potential risks posed to public health.

This incident underscores the importance of regulatory oversight in healthcare services and highlights the need for vigilance among community members to ensure they seek medical assistance from accredited facilities. The police have urged the public to report any suspicious activities related to unauthorized medical practices to safeguard public health and safety.

As the case unfolds, it serves as a reminder of the critical role law enforcement and regulatory bodies play in protecting citizens from potentially harmful practices. The Bono East Regional Police Command has reiterated its commitment to upholding the law and ensuring that individuals who flout regulations are held accountable.
