Aduman, Afigya Kwabre South District – The Ashanti North Regional Police Command has apprehended two suspects, Sani Abacha, 28, and Asante Eric, 23, in connection with a robbery, murder, and attempted murder case that occurred in Aduman on Sunday, October 19, 2025.
According to a statement released by ASP Emmanuel Agbodzi, Acting Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Ashanti North Command, initial investigations indicate that the complainant returned to his residence in Aduman Old Town on the day of the incident to find his tricycle (commonly known as "Aboboyaa") and two housekeepers, Kwabena Yankyira, 18, and Kwabena Boateng, 15, missing.
The investigation revealed that Sani Abacha allegedly lured the victims under the guise of transporting firewood from his farm, with the intention of stealing the tricycle. He then attacked both victims with a cutlass in a nearby bush, inflicting severe injuries before fleeing with the tricycle. Abacha later contacted Eric Asante, and together they concealed the tricycle at the Aboabogya Cemetery. Subsequently, they sold it to a third suspect named Balawe, who is currently at large.
The following morning, a resident discovered Kwabena Yankyira unconscious on a cocoa farm near the Aduman Old Town Cemetery. He had sustained deep cutlass wounds to his neck, head, and ear and was immediately transported to St. Patrick’s Hospital at Maase-Offinso for medical treatment. Shortly after, the body of Kwabena Boateng was found nearby, bearing similar injuries.
Police officers visited the crime scene and recovered a cutlass believed to have been used in the attack. The deceased’s body was transported to St. Patrick’s Hospital for preservation and autopsy.
Following an intensive operation, Sani Abacha was apprehended on October 24, 2025, at Asafo Tinkamu. He subsequently led the police to the arrest of Eric Asante at Aboabogya. Both suspects have confessed to their involvement in the crime.
On October 28, 2025, Sani Abacha and Asante Eric were arraigned before the Kodie Magistrate Court on provisional charges of robbery and murder. They have been remanded into prison custody and are scheduled to reappear in court on November 25, 2025.
The police have stated that efforts are underway to apprehend the third suspect, Balawe, and recover the stolen tricycle.
