Two people have sustained injuries following a clash between two factions embroiled in a long-running chieftaincy dispute at Gomoa Nyanyano in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.

The incident occurred in front of the Gomoa Nyanyano Chief’s palace, prompting the Central East Regional Police Command to deploy personnel to take control of the township.

Gomoa Nyanyano has been grappling with chieftaincy tensions for several years, which emerged after the passing of Nana Obeng Wiabo. According to police sources, the latest clash was triggered when one faction attempted to organise a float. As the procession reached Gomoa Nyanyano, the opposing faction mobilised and blocked the main road, leading to violent confrontations between the groups.

To restore order and maintain peace in the community, over 50 police officers and other security personnel have been deployed to take over the area.
