Tragedy in Binduri: Attack on Civilian Convoy Claims Lives, Military Responds Swiftly

In a tragic turn of events, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) have confirmed a deadly attack on a civilian convoy in Binduri, located in the Upper East Region of Ghana. The incident, which occurred on Monday, April 27, 2026, resulted in the loss of three civilian lives and left one individual injured. The convoy, comprising approximately 140 civilians traveling from Bawku to Bolgatanga, came under heavy gunfire from unknown assailants.



The Attack and Military Response


According to a statement issued by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin of the Ghana Navy, Acting Director General of Public Relations, the attackers launched multiple rounds of gunfire at the convoy. In response, military personnel escorting the civilians acted swiftly to neutralize the threat. The GAF successfully repelled the attack, leading to the deaths of seven assailants.


In a follow-up operation, soldiers pursued one of the attackers who sought refuge in a nearby mosque. During the operation, the military recovered significant weaponry, including a G3 automatic rifle, two loaded magazines containing 20 rounds each, and an additional 176 rounds of ammunition. This discovery underscores the seriousness of the threat posed by the assailants.

The Ghana Armed Forces have since apprehended ten suspects believed to be connected to the attack. These individuals are currently assisting authorities with investigations as efforts continue to uncover the motives and identities of those responsible for this heinous act.
