In a significant operation by the Upper West Regional Police Command, a large consignment of ammunition has been intercepted, leading to the arrest of three suspects. This operation, conducted on Monday, June 29, 2026, uncovered 200 boxes of AA cartridges, equating to approximately 50,000 rounds, which were clandestinely transported through an unauthorized route outside Wa.



The discovery was made during a routine search of a commercial vehicle flagged as part of ongoing security checks in the region. The ammunition was found concealed beneath other goods within the vehicle, highlighting the strategic efforts by the police to curb illegal activities.


The individuals apprehended in connection with this operation have been identified as Alhassan Issahaku, Iddrisu Mashood, and Alhaji Issahaku.
