In a decisive move to curb narcotics-related activities, the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has successfully executed an intelligence-led operation resulting in the closure of the Amsterdam Pub located at Laboma in Accra. This operation, which unfolded overnight on Friday, September 4, led to the arrest of three individuals suspected of involvement in illicit drug activities.
According to a statement released by NACOC on September 8, the operation was initiated following credible intelligence that pointed to the facility's alleged use as a hub for narcotics-related operations. The three apprehended suspects are presently cooperating with the Commission's ongoing investigations. However, NACOC has disclosed that the primary suspect, believed to be intricately linked to these activities, remains elusive. In response, additional intelligence officers have been mobilized to locate and apprehend the suspect as the investigation progresses.
The Amsterdam Pub, self-styled as a coffee shop, has been temporarily closed to aid in the ongoing investigations. This measure is also intended to prevent the premises from being exploited for further narcotic-related activities during the investigation period.
