The Jasikan Municipal Police Command in the Oti Region has made an apprehension in connection to allegations of impersonation involving Mr. Yao Gomado, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Akan Constituency. Bless Agbenyenu, a teacher, was taken into custody following claims of creating a fraudulent Facebook account using the identity of the legislator.

Mr. Emmanuel Klu, a Personal Assistant to the MP, has confirmed that five victims have already provided their witness statements, and it is anticipated that additional individuals from Asato and Dodo-Amanfrom communities in the Kadjebi District will also come forward with their statements on Tuesday, January 16. These statements from the victims are expected to play a significant role in the ongoing investigation.

A press release from Mr. Musah Mohammed, the Deputy Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Akan Constituency, has highlighted that the impersonation primarily revolved around the unauthorized use of Mr. Gomado's identity on social media, particularly on Facebook. The imposter exploited this false identity for deceitful activities, posing potential harm and financial loss to unsuspecting individuals.

The release has urged anyone who may have been affected by this fraudulent scheme to come forward and report their experiences to the police. It has also emphasized the importance of exercising caution and verifying the authenticity of online interactions, especially in matters involving financial transactions.
