We recently received news of a disturbing incident involving a 21-year-old man named Jeffery Johnson, who appeared before an Accra Circuit Court to face charges of robbery and causing harm. The allegations against Johnson and his accomplices are quite serious, as they are said to have robbed two individuals of their mobile phones.

During the robbery, Johnson allegedly stabbed one of the complainants, Ebenezer Dapaah, on his right hand before making off with his phone as well as that of the second complainant, Rosemary Akorli. Despite the gravity of the accusations, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.

At the court hearing presided over by Mrs. Afia Owusua Appiah, Johnson was remanded into police custody and is scheduled to reappear on March 7, 2024. The prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Wisdom Alorwu, provided further details regarding the incident. It was revealed that the complainant, Ebenezer Dapaah, is a chef, while Rosemary Akorli works as a kitchen assistant at Papaya Food Company.

According to Chief Inspector Alorwu, the accused resides in Teshie and, on February 17, 2024, between the hours of 1:00 am and 1:30 am, Johnson and his accomplices arrived at the complainants' residence on a motorbike. It was there that the alleged robbery and stabbing took place, resulting in the theft of mobile phones valued at GH¢4,200.

Fortunately, the quick actions of individuals in the vicinity led to the apprehension of Johnson, although his accomplices managed to escape with the motorbike. Upon his arrest, a search conducted on Johnson revealed one of the stolen phones and the pair of scissors purportedly used in the commission of the robbery.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and community involvement in maintaining public safety. We trust that the judicial process will ensure a fair and just resolution for all parties involved.
