We are deeply saddened to report on a tragic incident that occurred in the farming community of Dzuefe-Hamekpoe, within the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta Region. Afealete Dzreke, a well-known fetish priest in his 50s, stands accused of fatally shooting his 34-year-old son, Lawson Agbenyega Dzreke.

The community was left in shock upon discovering that the father, also known as 'Hunor Akpatogui,' allegedly buried his son in a nearby bush after committing the crime. This disturbing act has understandably shaken the residents of Dzuefe-Hamekpoe.

Eyewitnesses have revealed that a dispute between the suspect and the deceased took place on Thursday, February 1, which may have served as a trigger for this tragic incident. The involvement of the Akatsi police was prompted by the discovery of the buried body, and the suspect has since been taken into custody for further questioning.

Mr. Selorm Bright Gligui, the Assembly member of the area, has reported the community's shock and disbelief at this distressing turn of events. Chief Superintendent Isaac Baah, the Akatsi South Municipal Police Commander, has confirmed the incident, assuring that detailed information on the crime will be provided at a later time.

In accordance with proper procedures, the police plan to exhume the deceased's body on Monday, February 5. It is important to note that Lawson Agbenyega Dzreke, the victim in this tragic event, leaves behind a grieving family, as he was married and had three children.

Our thoughts are with the family and community affected by this devastating loss. We hope that through the ongoing investigation and legal process, justice will be served for the late Lawson Agbenyega Dzreke. This heartbreaking incident serves as a reminder of the importance of peaceful conflict resolution and the devastating consequences of violence within our communities.
