The Mankralo of the Nungua traditional area has clarified that the marriage between 63-year-old Gborbu Wulomo and 12-year-old Naa Okromo is purely customary and does not come with sexual duties.

The customary ceremony, which took place on Saturday, March 30, 2024, was streamed online and has sparked outrage among many, leading to calls for the apprehension of the Gborbu Wulomo.

Addressing the concerns raised after the ceremony, the Nungua Mankralo explained that the marriage is part of the traditional rites for Naa Yoomo Ayamoadey. He emphasized that the connection between Naa Ayemoede and the Gborbu Wulomo is rooted in their roles within the GaDangbe state and the customs associated with their positions.

Furthermore, he clarified that the marriage has no sexual connotations and that Naa Ayemoede's role is ceremonial, as she sits on a virgin stool reserved for virgins. The Mankralo also highlighted that the Gborbu Wulomo has other customary wives and concubines who assist him in his traditional duties.

Overall, the Mankralo's explanation aims to provide context and dispel misconceptions surrounding the marriage ceremony, emphasizing its traditional and ceremonial nature.
