We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of three dedicated officers from the Ghana Police Service in a fatal accident at Kyekyewere along the Accra-Kumasi Highway. As a mark of respect, a one-week memorial service was held for the deceased at the headquarters of the Formed Police Unit (FPU) in Accra on Wednesday, April 10, 2024.
The fallen officers, Chief Inspector Michael Adzaho, PW Inspector Theresa Zampiah, and General Corporal Emmanuel Asamoah, were serving with the FPU and were en route to perform their duties when the unfortunate accident occurred on March 27, 2024. We extend our heartfelt condolences to their bereaved families, and our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr George Akuffo Dampare, on behalf of the Ghana Police Service, government, and the people of Ghana, expressed deep sorrow at the loss of the officers. He acknowledged the devastating impact of their untimely passing and emphasized the need for strength and resilience during this period of mourning.
In his address, IGP Dampare expressed gratitude to the bereaved families for allowing their loved ones to serve the nation and assured them of the Service's commitment to providing the deceased officers with a dignified burial. He also urged all personnel to remain resolute in carrying out their duties and not be disheartened by the tragic loss of their colleagues.
It is important to note that another officer, General Corporal Samuel Jude Koufie, who was traveling with the deceased, sustained injuries in the accident. Our thoughts are with him as he recovers from this ordeal.
The Ghana Police Service mourns the loss of these brave officers and honors their dedicated service to the nation. May their souls rest in peace.
