We have received reports of a disturbance that occurred at the Tepa Electoral Commission office in the Ashanti region during the ongoing limited voter registration exercise. Three individuals, namely Abass Abukari, George Vinor, and Abdul Karim, have been apprehended by the Police in connection with this incident and are currently assisting with the investigation while in custody.

We would like to assure the public that peace has been restored at the registration centre following this disruption. The limited voter registration exercise, which commenced on Monday, May 7, is aimed at enrolling individuals who have recently turned 18, in preparation for the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections scheduled for December 7.

It is regrettable that the registration process has encountered various challenges, including network issues and disruptions caused by certain individuals. We urge all stakeholders to support the smooth conduct of the voter registration exercise to ensure that all eligible individuals are duly registered to exercise their democratic right to vote in the upcoming elections.

We appreciate the cooperation of the public and remain committed to upholding the integrity of the voter registration process. Thank you for your understanding.
