We were saddened to hear about the discovery of a newborn baby on Tuesday night in front of the Banana Inn–Mango Down branch of the Apostles Revelation Society (ARS) Church, near Dansoman. The baby boy, who appeared to have been born just a few minutes before being found, still had his umbilical cord intact. It is unclear whether he was delivered at the scene or was brought there and left.

The infant, wrapped in a black apron, was discovered lying on the bare floor of the main church gate. Concerned neighbors promptly took the baby to the Dansoman District Police Station to officially report the incident. Subsequently, the baby was transferred to the Police Hospital for examination.

According to a Ghana News Agency (GNA) source, who accompanied the child to the Station, a Mobile Money vendor near the scene had earlier noticed a woman seated close by with her head fully covered. However, no suspicious activity was suspected until the news of the baby's discovery emerged. This account was supported by other neighbors who had been in the vicinity earlier.

As of now, the police are yet to arrive at the scene. We hope that the authorities will conduct a thorough investigation to ensure the safety and well-being of the newborn. Our thoughts are with the baby and we hope for a swift resolution to this distressing situation.
