We regret to report a tragic incident involving a member of the Ghana Armed Forces. According to a statement released by the Ghana Armed Forces, a soldier identified as L/Cpl Emmanuel Osei Danso lost his life in a confrontation while on duty.

L/Cpl Danso, along with a colleague identified as L/Cpl Ametus Matthew, was visiting a piece of land to confirm certain information when the unfortunate event occurred. It is reported that the deceased intervened to stop people from working on the land, and together with the landowner, proceeded to the Millennium City Police Station to report the issue.

However, while at the Police Station, the situation escalated as the alleged owner of the land arrived with two others believed to be land guards. A confrontation ensued, during which the soldiers were fired upon. Tragically, L/Cpl Danso was hit multiple times by the gunfire and succumbed to his injuries at the Mother and Child Hospital.

Preliminary investigations suggest that at the time of the incident, L/Cpl Danso was going to park a vehicle at the police station. The police acted swiftly to disarm and arrest the individual responsible for firing the shots, identified as suspect Benlord Ababio.

As a result of this heartbreaking event, the body of the deceased soldier has been deposited at the 37 Military Hospital morgue.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family, friends, and colleagues of L/Cpl Emmanuel Osei Danso during this difficult time. The Ghana Armed Forces have assured the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted to bring those responsible to justice. We honor and remember L/Cpl Danso for his service and sacrifice.
