We have received reports of the arrest of two individuals in the Mpohor constituency of the Western region in connection with the ongoing voter registration exercise. Frank Nkrumah, who serves as the Treasurer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the area, was taken into custody for allegedly registering a minor. It is important to note that Mr. Nkrumah also holds a position as a tutor at the Mpohor Senior High School (SHS).

In a similar development, Bernard Afful, the Deputy Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has also been apprehended by the Police for allegedly facilitating the registration of a minor from the Voices of Christ Preparatory School at Mpohor.

Accompanying Mr. Afful in custody is Rojer Miller, the proprietor of Voice of Christ Preparatory School, who is reported to have assisted the suspect in the aforementioned act.

Our sources indicate that both Mr. Nkrumah and Mr. Afful, along with their alleged accomplice, will be arraigned before the court on Monday, May 13, 2024.

It is crucial to emphasize that electoral processes must adhere to the laws and regulations governing voter registration. The involvement of minors in such processes is a serious violation and must be dealt with in accordance with the law.

We will continue to monitor this situation and provide updates as they become available.
