Upon review of the case involving Abednego Nbim and the tragic incident with his father, Yaw Nbim, it has been determined that Abednego Nbim will be referred to the Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital in Cape Coast by the Enchi District Magistrate Court for a psychiatric evaluation to ascertain his mental state.

Abednego Nbim, who is currently unemployed, is facing a provisional charge of murder, and the trial judge, Mr. Lawrence Buanor-Buer, has scheduled the next hearing for Monday, May 20, 2024.

According to the Prosecutor, Detective Chief Inspector Joseph Kwadwo Agyare, there were prior concerns about Abednego's abnormal behavior, leading to his admission to the Enchi Government Hospital's Mental Health Unit for assessment and treatment. Despite a referral for further care at the Wa Regional Hospital's Mental Health Unit, Abednego was discharged and taken home by his parents, who attributed his condition to spiritual causes.

Tragically, on April 13, 2024, a violent altercation occurred at their residence, resulting in the death of Yaw Nbim. The suspect's younger brother and the community committee were involved in reporting the incident and subsequent search efforts, leading to the discovery of Yaw Nbim's body in a nearby bush.

This is a deeply distressing situation, and it is crucial that Abednego Nbim receives the appropriate psychiatric evaluation and support. The court will continue to oversee the legal proceedings as more information becomes available.
