We are deeply concerned by the recent incident that occurred on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, in the Ashanti Region. A Benz container truck, en route from Adansi Asokwa to Obuasi, fell victim to a harrowing attack by seven armed robbers between the Tesiliman and Domeabra villages.

According to a Police situational report, the perpetrators, donning masks and brandishing firearms, as well as other weapons, launched an assault on the unsuspecting occupants of the truck. The assailants resorted to firing their guns, coercing the driver to come to a halt before proceeding to rob the individuals on board.

The stolen items included mobile phones with an estimated value of 4,500 cedis and a sum of 12,000 cedis in cash. Following the robbery, the perpetrators swiftly absconded from the scene, leaving the victims in a state of shock and distress.

In response to this distressing event, the Obuasi police force promptly visited the site of the incident and has since initiated a thorough investigation into the matter.

This reprehensible act serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing security challenges faced by individuals traversing certain routes within the region. It is imperative for law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts in ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.

We urge anyone with relevant information pertaining to this incident to come forward and assist the authorities in their investigation. Our thoughts are with the victims, and we hope for a swift resolution to this unsettling ordeal.
