We would like to address the recent misinformation circulating in the media regarding the status of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare. It has come to our attention that there are false reports suggesting that the IGP has been asked to proceed on leave. We urge the public to disregard these claims as they are entirely unfounded.

The Ghana Police Service reaffirms that the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, remains dedicated to his responsibilities and is committed to leading the Ghana Police Service in accordance with the mandate bestowed upon him by the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo.

It is important to treat such fake news with the contempt it deserves and not lend it any credence. The dissemination of false information can be detrimental to the public trust and confidence in our law enforcement institutions.

We assure the public that the Ghana Police Service, under the leadership of the Inspector General of Police, remains steadfast in its duty to ensure the safety and security of all citizens. We urge everyone to rely on verified sources of information and refrain from spreading unverified claims.

Let us work together to uphold the integrity of our institutions and promote responsible journalism. Thank you.
