The recent decision by the Circuit Court in Accra, presided over by Her Honour Kwabena Obiri Yeboah, to grant bail to the Convener of the Fix The Country Movement, Ralph Afful Williams, and nine others involved in the Democracy Hub protest has sparked discussions and reactions within legal circles.

During the court proceedings, each of the accused individuals was admitted to bail in the sum of GHc20,000 with a surety each. This decision came after the Prosecution, led by Nana Akosua Kusi, a State Attorney, opposed the bail. However, the Court granted the request for bail on the grounds that the prosecution had failed to fully comply with orders to file disclosures.

The accused individuals had pleaded not guilty to six counts, including conspiracy, unlawful assembly, causing unlawful damage, offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace, assault on a public officer, and defacement of public notice.

The other nine individuals involved in the case are Razak Suleman, Gerald Delim, Comrade Abubakar Sadeeq, Bilal Mohammed, Ebenezer Ankomanyi Okyere, Norgbedzi Kelvin, Priscilla Tobili, Mohammed Kong Hassan, and Tanko Nanong Alias Black Pyramid.

This development has raised significant interest and concern within legal circles, and it will be closely monitored as the case progresses through the judicial system.

EIB Network’s Legal Affairs Correspondent, Murtala Inusah, provided these details in his report on the court proceedings. As more information becomes available, it will be important to carefully consider the implications and outcomes of this case.
