It was revealed that the victim occasionally managed her mother's provision store, which was frequented by Mr. Darf as a customer. This interaction led to a friendship between Darf and the victim, with him visiting the shop to chat with her when her mother was not present.
The prosecution detailed that in June 2024, Mr. Darf took advantage of an opportunity when he saw the victim bathing in an uncompleted building and proceeded to have sexual intercourse with her. Following the act, he threatened the victim with harm if she disclosed the incident to her parents, leading to her silence on the matter.
The court learned that it wasn't until July 2024, when the victim's mother took her to their hometown for rituals, that the truth came to light. The attending priest identified that the victim had been defiled, prompting her to confide in her mother upon their return.
Subsequently, with the assistance of friends, the complainant apprehended Mr. Darf on August 9, 2024, and brought him to the Weija Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit. The victim underwent a medical examination and treatment, with the findings documented and provided to the police.
