Ghana Police Investigate Viral TikTok Video Containing Alleged Threats Against President Mahama and First Lady

In a swift response to a concerning development on social media, the Ghana Police Service has initiated an investigation into a viral TikTok video that allegedly contains threats directed at  President John Dramani Mahama and his wife, First Lady Lordina Mahama. The video, which has been widely circulated online, has raised alarm over its purported incitement of violence and disruption of public order.



The Police Public Affairs Directorate, in an official statement shared with the Ghana Crimes, confirmed that two individuals, Prince Ofori and Yayra Abiwu, are currently in custody. These individuals are assisting the ongoing investigation as authorities work diligently to uncover the full scope of the incident. Efforts are also underway to locate and engage other persons believed to be connected to the creation or dissemination of the controversial video.


The content of the video reportedly contains threatening remarks aimed at the  President and his spouse, prompting an urgent response from law enforcement. The Ghana Police Service has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens, emphasizing that threats of violence—whether made online or offline—will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
