Police Intercept Truck Carrying Suspected Indian Hemp in KEEA Municipality

In a significant operation aimed at curbing drug trafficking in the region, police officers in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipality have successfully intercepted a truck loaded with suspected Indian hemp. The operation, led by Chief Inspector Abraham Bansah, resulted in the arrest of four individuals and the seizure of a Kia Rhino truck carrying 2,250 parcels of the illicit substance.





The vehicle, bearing registration number WT 591-20, was intercepted at the Mpeasem Axle Load Station as it was reportedly en route from the Central Region to Nzema in the Western Region. Among those apprehended is the 34-year-old driver of the truck. The arrested individuals are currently in police custody at the Elmina Police Station, where they are assisting authorities with investigations.


Preliminary reports suggest that the suspects were involved in transporting the parcels believed to contain Indian hemp. Law enforcement officials are working diligently to identify and apprehend the owner of the contraband. This operation underscores the Ghana Police Service’s commitment to intensifying efforts to combat drug trafficking and other related criminal activities within the region.
