In a significant breakthrough, law enforcement authorities in the Ashanti Region have apprehended two suspects in connection with the robbery and murder of Kofi Mensah, a 20-year-old man, at Tweapease-Aboo. The arrests, which took place in Obuasi, are the result of an intelligence-led operation that successfully traced the suspects to the area.
The suspects, identified as Solomon Opoku and Collins Aboagye, were detained following an attempt by one of them to sell the victim’s stolen motorbike, a Haojin model. This key development came shortly after the Bediem District Police Command received a formal report from the Assembly Member of the area on October 6, 2025.
According to police sources, Opoku was apprehended on October 10 at Council Quarters in Obuasi while attempting to sell the stolen motorbike. Subsequent investigations led authorities to Aboagye, who was arrested later at Kokotesua, another location within the Obuasi vicinity.
Both suspects are reported to have confessed to their involvement in the crime during police interrogations. Furthermore, the stolen motorbike has been successfully recovered as part of the investigation.
The suspects are currently in police custody and are expected to face legal proceedings on Monday, October 13, 2025. The arrests underscore the effectiveness of intelligence-driven operations and demonstrate the commitment of law enforcement agencies to ensuring justice for victims of violent crimes.
This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the need for vigilance and community cooperation in combating criminal activities. The authorities continue to urge the public to report suspicious activities promptly to aid in crime prevention and resolution.
Further updates on this case will be provided as investigations and legal processes unfold.
