Accra, Ghana – A 22-year-old man identified as Evans Puplampu has been arrested by police for allegedly creating and sharing a TikTok video that caused widespread fear and panic among the Christian community in Ghana. The video, which went viral, showed the suspect posing as a bandit with his face covered and was captioned, “We are starting from Ghana churches.”
The arrest was carried out by officers from the Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) Headquarters in Accra. According to a situational report released by the police, the video was intercepted on Sunday, April 5, 2026, prompting an immediate investigation into its origin and the identity of the individual involved.
The footage, which quickly gained traction on social media, raised significant alarm due to its threatening undertones. The authorities launched a thorough investigation to locate and apprehend the person responsible. After sustained intelligence gathering and surveillance, officers successfully identified and arrested Evans Puplampu on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Ashaiman Community 22 in Accra.
During interrogation, the suspect admitted to being the individual featured in the video. Operating under the TikTok username “Eyes Man,” Puplampu claimed that his actions were not intended to cause harm or incite fear. He explained that he had come across similar trends on social media and decided to mimic them purely for entertainment purposes. The police also retrieved the device used to create and upload the video, a Samsung Galaxy A15, which has been kept as evidence.
The authorities have emphasized that investigations are ongoing to determine whether further actions or accomplices were involved. In light of the incident, the police have issued a strong warning to the public against sharing or creating content that could incite fear or disturb public order.
