We are deeply saddened to report on a tragic incident that occurred at dawn on Thursday, February 15, 2024, in Ashaiman, Greater Accra Region. An unidentified man fell victim to a fatal stabbing, allegedly at the hands of armed robbers.
The lifeless body of the victim was discovered with multiple stab wounds and blood-soaked clothing near the Goodness filling station at Ashaiman Main Trotro Station. It is believed that the attack took place around 4:30 am.
According to eyewitness accounts, the victim was in possession of a bag containing money and a mobile phone when he was confronted by the criminal assailants. Despite their demands, he reportedly resisted, leading to a violent altercation during which he sustained a fatal stab wound to the stomach.
This tragic incident has sparked concern and unease among residents, particularly due to circulating rumors suggesting that the victim may have been a member of the military. This fear is compounded by the memory of a similar event in the Municipality on March 7, 2023, when soldiers descended on Ashaiman following the killing of their colleague, Private Imoro Sherrif, in Ashaiman Zongo Laka on Saturday, March 4, 2023.
In light of these distressing developments, it is imperative that the authorities take swift and decisive action to address both the immediate security concerns and the underlying issues contributing to such acts of violence. However, it is concerning to note that the Police in Ashaiman have declined to provide any comments on the matter at this time.
