Cyber Security Authority warns public about Valentine’s Day fraud.

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, the Cyber Security Authority has issued a warning to the public regarding potential fraud activities that may target unsuspecting individuals during this time of celebration.



According to the Authority, cyber criminals often take advantage of the Valentine’s Day occasion to defraud innocent victims through various schemes, including online shopping and romance scams. In a press statement released on February 7, it was revealed that a total of GH¢3,558,940 was reported lost in 2023 as a result of online shopping and romance scams.


As a result, the Authority is urging the public to exercise caution and due diligence in their online activities, especially during this upcoming Valentine’s Day period. It is important for individuals to be mindful of the potential risks associated with online transactions and to take steps to protect themselves from falling victim to fraudulent activities.
