Businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome has recently made headlines following the disbarment of Chief State Attorney Samuel Nerquaye-Tetteh by the General Legal Council (GLC). Mr. Woyome has firmly stated that he has never engaged in bribery or corrupt activities in the course of his business endeavors.

In response to the recent events, Mr. Woyome addressed journalists on February 15, emphasizing his commitment to abiding by the law and asserting that he has never participated in any form of bribery. He clarified that as a non-governmental figure, he has neither offered nor received government bribes.

The disbarment of Mr. Nerquaye-Tetteh stemmed from his involvement in a case against Mr. Woyome in 2011, during which he was found guilty of professional misconduct by the Disciplinary Committee of the General Legal Council. The committee's decision was based on Mr. Nerquaye-Tetteh's direct transfer of GH¢400,000 from Mr. Woyome to his wife's bank account.

In response to the GLC's actions, Mr. Woyome has expressed his intention to take legal action against the Council for disqualifying Mr. Nerquaye-Tetteh, citing potential contempt of court. He has also highlighted that previous judicial decisions have absolved him and others involved in the case of any misconduct.

While Mr. Woyome acknowledges transferring the GH¢400,000 to Mr. Nerquaye-Tetteh's wife, he maintains that it was solely for humanitarian reasons.

The disbarment of Mr. Nerquaye-Tetteh has raised significant attention, with Mr. Woyome expressing his belief that the Council's decision is targeted at him. He has underscored his adherence to legal and ethical standards in all his dealings.

This development underscores the importance of upholding professional conduct and ethical practices within the legal profession. It also serves as a reminder of the repercussions for any breaches of such standards.

As the saga continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how Mr. Woyome's assertions and potential legal actions will shape the narrative surrounding this case.
