The Manhyia South constituency organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region, Mustapha Alhassan, is at the center of a developing situation as he is expected to report to the police headquarters today.

This follows the issuance of a police summons after a viral video captured him issuing threats of electoral violence. In response to the summons, the regional executives of the NDC have expressed their dissatisfaction and have indicated their intention to accompany Mustapha Alhassan to the police station, along with a legal team to provide him with necessary representation.

Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the NDC’s Ashanti regional secretary, conveyed the party’s readiness for any legal proceedings that may ensue during an interview on Eyewitness News on Citi FM. He emphasized their preparedness to confront any challenges at the police headquarters and even suggested the potential arrest of the NPP official who was involved in the same incident.

“We are going with our lawyers, and we are ready for whatever legal tussle. If we need to file a counter-complaint for them to arrest the NPP official, we will do the same, and if we need to perform a citizen’s arrest and bring the NPP official to the police, we will do that,” Dr. Amoakohene stated.

Furthermore, he highlighted the presumption of innocence until proven guilty by a court of law and emphasized the need for a fair and impartial process. Dr. Amoakohene clarified that Mustapha Alhassan's remarks were taken out of context and that he was responding to a co-panelist without any intention of causing harm.

It is evident that the situation surrounding Mustapha Alhassan's involvement in the viral video is complex and requires a thorough and unbiased investigation. The NDC's stance on providing legal support and advocating for fair treatment underscores their commitment to due process.

As this situation unfolds, it is essential for all parties involved to uphold the principles of justice and transparency. The outcome of this case will undoubtedly have implications for the political landscape, and it is imperative that it is handled with the utmost professionalism and adherence to legal procedures.
