We are deeply saddened to report on a tragic incident that occurred in Banda-Nkwanta, a community situated along the Bole-Bamboi highway in the Bole district of the Savannah Region. A man, believed to be mentally unstable, has taken the lives of four individuals in a series of violent attacks.

The distressing events began when the man, known as Daganaa, approached a galamsey site to unload items and requested the use of a restroom at a local compound house on Monday. Upon being denied access, he reacted violently, stabbing one of the residents before fleeing to another compound.

In the second compound, he forced his way into a room where two children, aged 10 and 12, were asleep and allegedly attacked them. Tragically, their frail grandmother, who had limited mobility, also became a victim of his assault.

Daganaa continued his violent spree, moving to another household where he stabbed an individual resting in the compound’s foyer. When confronted by residents, he barricaded himself in a room, threatening anyone who approached.

The escalating situation prompted residents to call the Bole police command for assistance. Upon their arrival, Daganaa attacked two police officers, leading them to respond with gunfire, resulting in his death.

As a result of this harrowing incident, four individuals tragically lost their lives. The elderly grandmother, who was critically injured, is currently undergoing treatment at Carpenter Hospital in Bole. The deceased persons have been laid to rest in accordance with Islamic customs.

Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of the victims during this incredibly difficult time. We hope that they find strength and support as they navigate this tragic loss.
