12-year-old boy drowns while chasing after a ball in a river

We are deeply saddened to report a tragic incident that occurred in the Asunafo North Municipality, where a 12-year-old boy lost his life in a drowning accident. The young boy, identified as Ofosu Stephen, was a student at Zion School in Mim.




According to reports, the unfortunate incident took place at the Ferterr River while Stephen and his friends were playing football. In an attempt to retrieve their ball from the river, Stephen jumped in but tragically drowned.


The news has left the parents and residents of the area in a state of shock and devastation. Speaking on the matter, an aunt of the deceased revealed that Stephen was her senior sister's fourth child. She also mentioned that the body of the young boy has been recovered from the river, and traditional authorities have conducted rituals in the area.


This heartbreaking event serves as a reminder of the importance of water safety, especially for young individuals. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Ofosu Stephen during this difficult time.
