We are deeply troubled to report the apprehension of Kwadwo Opoku, a resident of Kwawu Asuoyaa in the Kwawu East District of the Eastern Region, by the Kwawu Suminakese police on charges of sodomy. The accused, in his mid-thirties, has been implicated in the alleged sexual assault of an eight-year-old boy.

Upon receiving a report from the victim's family, the Department of Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVSU) under the Nkawkaw Divisional Police Command swiftly took action, leading to Opoku's custody pending further investigation into the distressing allegations against him.

It is important to note that the legal process is underway, and Opoku is entitled to the presumption of innocence until proven guilty. However, it is crucial to address such serious allegations with the utmost sensitivity and thoroughness to ensure justice for the victim and uphold the rule of law.

We urge the community to allow the legal proceedings to take their course and to cooperate with the authorities as they work diligently to uncover the truth in this matter. Our thoughts remain with the young victim and their family during this difficult time.

As this case unfolds, we emphasize the importance of safeguarding the well-being of all individuals, particularly the most vulnerable among us. It is incumbent upon all members of society to uphold the protection and rights of children and to stand against any form of abuse or exploitation.

We will continue to monitor developments in this case and provide updates as appropriate. Our hope is for a fair and just resolution that prioritizes the welfare of the victim and serves as a reminder of our collective responsibility to ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone.
