A 19-year-old woman, Emmanuella Asante, has been remanded into police custody in connection with the death of her reported boyfriend, 33-year-old Enoch Abrokwa, following an alleged stabbing at Ofankor Barrier in Accra.

According to a statement issued by the Accra Regional Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, preliminary investigations indicate that the incident occurred during a disagreement at the deceased’s business premises on Friday, October 9.

Police Outline Circumstances of the Incident

The statement, signed by Chief Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, said the confrontation allegedly escalated, resulting in Asante stabbing Abrokwa in the chest with a piece of broken glass.

Abrokwa was initially taken to a hospital at Taifa-Burkina before being referred to Ridge Hospital. According to the police statement, he underwent surgery for a deep wound that affected his intestines. He died on October 14 while receiving treatment.

 Arrest and Court Appearance

Police said Asante was arrested on October 10 and brought to them by the complainant and three other individuals. The statement further reported that she admitted to stabbing the deceased.

She was subsequently brought before a court and remanded into police custody. She is scheduled to reappear on November 3, 2026, as investigations continue.

The allegations remain subject to investigation and judicial proceedings. A remand order does not constitute a finding of guilt.

Police Appeal for Peaceful Resolution of Disputes

The Accra Regional Police Command urged members of the public to resolve disagreements peacefully and refrain from violence. It also called for public cooperation with the ongoing investigation, stating that appropriate action would be taken in accordance with the law.
