We are deeply saddened to report a tragic incident that occurred on the Nkenkaasu – Akomadan road in the Offinso North district of the Ashanti region. In the early hours of Wednesday morning, March 13, 2024, a devastating head-on collision took place, resulting in the loss of at least six lives.
Reports indicate that the collision occurred at approximately 4:00 am when the driver of a Kia vehicle with registration number GE-5097-23 lost control and collided with a Yuntong bus bearing registration number EN-3827-2023. The bus was said to be transporting passengers from Yendi to Kumasi at the time of the accident.
Tragically, six individuals lost their lives at the scene of the collision, while others sustained critical injuries. The injured individuals were promptly transported to the Nkenkaasu Government Hospital for urgent medical treatment.
It is particularly distressing to note that this stretch of road has witnessed a total of 13 fatalities within a mere two-week period, stemming from two separate accidents.
