Man Remanded in Police Custody Over Alleged Possession of Narcotics in Ho

In a significant development, the Ho Magistrate Court has ordered the remand of a man identified as Godsway Dogbey into police custody following allegations of possession of narcotic substances. The accused, whose plea has not yet been taken, is scheduled to reappear before the court on February 5. The presiding magistrate, Mr. Albert Annor Owusu, directed that Dogbey remain in police custody for ten days to facilitate ongoing investigations into the matter.

During the court proceedings, Police Prosecutor Sergeant Michael Kasey presented details of the arrest. According to Sergeant Kasey, the accused was apprehended on January 23 while traveling along the Fume Enclave–Ho–Sogakope route, which was identified as the intended final delivery point for the intercepted consignment.


The police reportedly seized a total of 2,028 parcels of substances suspected to be Indian hemp. The estimated street value of the intercepted narcotics is said to be GH¢1,022,500, highlighting the severity of the case.


Accused Denies Ownership


In his statement to the police, Dogbey denied ownership of the seized consignment. He reportedly implicated another individual, also named Godsway and believed to be a resident of Kpando, as the rightful owner of the suspected narcotic substances. This claim is currently under investigation as authorities work to verify the details provided.
