We are deeply concerned about the disappearance of Faustina Asantewaa, a retired midwife residing in Akwatia. Her absence since September 12, 2023, has left her family in distress and seeking answers.

Faustina, aged 76, vanished from her home where she lived with her daughter Benedicta Agyiewaa Sasu and son-in-law. A report was filed with the Akwatia District Police command, and subsequent investigations were initiated. However, the progress has been slow, and the family has raised concerns about the lackluster investigation by the local police.

The discovery of Faustina’s sandals near a river has raised suspicions of a possible drowning. Despite extensive searches conducted by divers and community members, no further traces of her whereabouts have been discovered.

Faustina's health condition, neuropathy, which caused numbness and difficulty walking, further complicates suspicion of her disappearance. Additionally, unauthorized withdrawals have been made from her bank account since her disappearance, totaling Ghc6000 in October, November, and December. This has raised suspicions, particularly regarding her daughter and son-in-law, who resided with her.

Efforts to obtain bank account details for further investigation have been hindered by administrative delays. The absence of a judge required to issue an order to the bank has stalled progress, leaving the family frustrated and feeling that the police investigation lacks urgency.

With nearly six months passing since her disappearance and no significant breakthroughs in the investigation, the family remains apprehensive. Afrifa Sasu, one of Faustina's children, has taken one year leave without salary to commit to an intense search for their mother.

The situation is distressing, and the family is urging for a more thorough and urgent investigation to uncover the truth about Faustina Asantewaa's disappearance. We hope that the authorities will take swift action to bring clarity to this troubling situation.
