We regret to report an unfortunate incident that occurred at the Techiman Holy Family Hospital in the Bono East Regional capital. Allegedly, a group of Fire Service personnel was involved in an altercation with the hospital security guards, resulting in injuries to the guards.

According to reports, the altercation stemmed from a misunderstanding when five Fire Officers attempted to visit a female colleague who was admitted at the hospital. The security guards, adhering to hospital policy, denied the officers entry as it was past visiting hours.

Regrettably, the situation escalated as the Fire Officers allegedly resorted to physically assaulting the security guards, leading to further chaos when additional officers arrived at the scene. It is reported that the Fire Officers forcefully removed their colleague from the hospital premises, causing disruption and concern.

In response to this incident, the management of the Holy Family Hospital has taken the appropriate step of filing an official complaint with the Ghana Police Service. They seek a thorough investigation into the matter and urge for appropriate sanctions against those found responsible for the altercation.

In confirmation of the incident, A.D.O. 1 Gyan Victor, the Bono East Regional Public Relations Officer for the Ghana National Fire Service, acknowledged the occurrence. However, he attributed the altercation to alleged unprofessional conduct by the hospital security guards towards one of the Fire Officers. Additionally, he clarified that the presence of additional Fire Service personnel was intended to ensure the safety of their colleague, whose security was deemed compromised at the hospital.

It is imperative that a thorough and impartial investigation be conducted to ascertain the facts surrounding this incident. Both the Fire Service personnel and the hospital security guards deserve fair treatment and resolution in this matter. We hope that swift and appropriate actions will be taken to address this regrettable occurrence and prevent similar incidents in the future.
