We have received distressing news from Blue Top Estate in Kasoa, Central Region, where an eight-year-old boy narrowly escaped a suspected kidnapping for ritual purposes. The young boy, a pupil of Great Promise School Complex, was reportedly abducted by individuals believed to be involved in 'sakawa' activities while on his way to school on the morning of Tuesday, March 12.

Upon discovery, the boy was found with his hands bound behind his back and his mouth stuffed with clothes. A video posted online depicted the child in a disheveled state, dressed in his school uniform's shorts and singlet, without a shirt.

It was not until Tuesday evening that the boy was located at a deserted site by a Fulani herdsman who had been grazing his cows in the vicinity. The herdsman promptly sought assistance from the neighbors to rescue the young boy.

Reports indicate that the perpetrators had intended to carry out the suspected killing in the evening of the same day the boy was captured.

This harrowing incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers faced by children as they go about their daily activities. It also underscores the importance of community vigilance and prompt action in responding to such crises.

We commend the residents of Blue Top Estate for their swift and decisive intervention, which undoubtedly saved the life of the young boy. It is imperative that law enforcement agencies conduct a thorough investigation into this matter and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

Our thoughts are with the young victim and his family during this difficult time, and we hope for his swift recovery from this traumatic experience.
