Woman murdered and sexually assaulted in Ashanti region

In a shocking and disturbing turn of events, two suspects have been taken into police custody for the alleged rape and murder of a 36-year-old woman in Sene Bokankye, Ashanti region. The suspects, identified as Kelvin Gyamfi and Samuel Addai, are accused of carrying out this heinous act after invading the victim's home with the intention of theft.



Reports indicate that the victim was asleep in her room when the perpetrators entered the uncompleted building where she resided and brutally attacked her, resulting in her tragic demise. Following her death, the suspects are said to have despicably violated her body before fleeing the scene with stolen items.


The harrowing discovery was made by the victim's neighbors, who found her lifeless body in a pool of blood, prompting her son to raise the alarm upon returning from school. Subsequent examination by the authorities revealed the extent of the brutality inflicted upon the victim, with deep cuts and blunt force trauma evident on her body.


Furthermore, semen was found at the scene, pointing to the appalling nature of the crime. The victim's body has since been taken to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for autopsy and preservation, with the results indicating severe head injury, blunt force trauma, and evidence of sexual assault.


Following intensive police investigations, the stolen phone and SIM card were traced to the suspects, ultimately leading to their apprehension. Samuel Addai was first arrested at Atwima Bokankye, while his accomplice managed to evade capture initially but was later found and arrested at Medie-Accra.



Subsequently, both suspects appeared before the Akropong District Magistrate court, where they were provisionally charged with conspiracy to commit murder and murder. Detective Chief Inspector Francis Opoku informed the court that investigations are ongoing, with plans for a DNA test to be conducted using samples obtained from the victim's body.


This appalling incident serves as a stark reminder of the heinous acts that continue to occur within our communities.
