In a recent development, a trader by the name of Joseph Atiogbe, also known as Jazzy, has been remanded into Police custody on allegations of robbery. Atiogbe, aged 35, has pleaded not guilty to the offence in question.

The Circuit Court One, which remanded the trader, has also issued a bench warrant for the arrest of his alleged accomplice, Richard Garbah, aged 34. Garbah, a commercial motorbike (okada) rider, failed to attend Court, leading to the issuance of the warrant.

Furthermore, Stephen Morrison, an accountant, has been granted a GHC50,000.00 bail with two sureties to be justified. Morrison was arraigned for dishonestly receiving a mobile phone from the alleged robbery expedition.

The charges against Garbah, Atiogbe (alias Jazzy), and one Obed (alias Tinny), who is currently at large, include conspiracy to rob Mr. Daniel Arko of various items including an iPhone 14 pro Max and cash.

Meanwhile, the third person involved, Stephen Morrison, aged 30, has denied the accusation of dishonestly receiving an iPhone 14 pro Max.

The Police are currently seeking Obed, who is at large.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Evans Kesse, the complainant, Mr. Arko, was physically assaulted and robbed at his residence in Accra. The gang allegedly forced Mr. Arko to hand over valuables and cash before locking him in his bedroom and fleeing with the stolen items.

Following the incident, the complainant raised an alarm and was rescued by neighbors. Subsequently, a complaint was lodged with the Police, leading to the tracking and retrieval of the complainant's iPhone. Morrison claimed to have purchased the iPhone from Atiogbe at a significantly lower price.

Further police intelligence led to the arrest of Garbah and the recovery of the complainant's Alcatel phone from him. Garbah implicated Atiogbe as his source for the phone.

It was revealed that Atiogbe had been on the run but was eventually arrested and admitted to selling the complainant's iPhone to Morrison. He also confessed to purchasing the iPhone from Garbah and Obed at Lapaz on July 23, 2023.

The unfolding events in this case highlight the severity of the alleged robbery and the subsequent involvement of multiple individuals. As the legal proceedings continue, it is crucial to allow the justice system to take its course in determining the culpability of the accused parties.
