His lifeless body was discovered in a guest house in Akatsi under circumstances that remain unclear.

Mr. Tettey, affectionately known as "TK" among colleagues and friends, was found motionless on a bed at the Joli Bebe Guest House at approximately 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. The grim discovery was made by a guest house worker who entered the room to perform routine housekeeping duties.

The Akatsi South Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Karim Ayaana Umar, has confirmed the incident but has refrained from providing further details pending official statements from the Ghana Police Service and the deceased's family.

Reports indicate that prior to the discovery, Mr. Tettey's wife had made multiple unsuccessful attempts to reach him via phone. Concerned for his safety, she reported his absence to the Municipal Education Directorate. Subsequently, she and the Municipal Director of Education visited the Akatsi Municipal Police Command to file a formal complaint.

While at the police station, officers received information regarding a deceased man found at the Joli Bebe Guest House. Upon arrival at the scene, authorities identified the deceased as Mr. Tettey.

The Assembly Member for the area, Mr. Wonder Gatepe, recounted being alerted by guest house staff about the headteacher's body. He promptly arrived at the location and confirmed Mr. Tettey's lifeless state before police personnel commenced their investigation.

In the room where Mr. Tettey was found, a bag containing educational materials, a mobile phone, canned malt drinks, and other personal belongings was discovered. Notably, there were no visible signs of physical assault on his body.

Preliminary investigations have dispelled rumors circulating on social media that Mr. Tettey was accompanied by a student at the time of his death. Instead, available information suggests he was seen with an adult woman believed to be in her late 30s. However, authorities are yet to fully ascertain the circumstances surrounding this incident.

The Akatsi Municipal Police Command has confirmed the case and stated that investigations are ongoing. At present, no arrests have been made.

Mr. Tettey's sudden demise has cast a pall of grief over the education sector in Akatsi South Municipality. Colleagues and friends remember him as a dedicated, intelligent, and hardworking educationist whose contributions will be sorely missed.

His body has been transported to St. Paul’s Hospital morgue in Akatsi for preservation, autopsy, and further investigations as authorities work diligently to uncover the truth behind this tragic event.
