In a recent case that has garnered attention, three individuals appeared before a District Court at Awutu Breku in the Central Region on charges related to an assault on a student. The incident allegedly stemmed from an accusation that the student had caused a tricycle rider’s penis to shrink.
The individuals facing charges are Zakaria Zulkani, Seidu Abdul Nasir, and Innusah Musah, all of whom are tricycle riders. They have been charged with several offenses including publication of false news, deceiving a public officer, conspiracy to commit a crime, and assault. During their appearance before the court, presided over by Naomi A. A. Kuntour, they were remanded into police custody after the court did not take their pleas.
According to the prosecution led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Thomas Sarfo and Chief Inspector Bernice Wie Kpuusuu, the complainant, Abdul Suleman, is a student and resident of Kojo-Oku, a suburb of Gomoa Nyanyano. The prosecution outlined the events that transpired on March 31, 2024, when the complainant boarded Zulkani’s tricycle from Kasoa to Millennium City junction.
Allegedly, during the journey, Zulkani accused the complainant of causing his penis to shrink, leading to an altercation during which Nasir and Musah also became involved and subjected the complainant to severe beatings. Fortunately, the Central East Police Patrol Team arrived at the scene and intervened, bringing both parties to the Millennium City Police station where a complaint was lodged.
Subsequently, Zulkani was escorted to the Kasoa Polyclinic for examination and treatment. The medical examination revealed that Zulkani’s penis was normal and stable, contradicting his earlier claims. The complainant was issued with a Police medical report form for treatment.
The case highlights the serious nature of the charges brought against the accused individuals and underscores the importance of due process in addressing such incidents. As the legal proceedings unfold, it serves as a reminder of the significance of upholding the rule of law and ensuring justice for all parties involved.
The outcome of this case will undoubtedly be of interest to many, and it reinforces the imperative of addressing allegations with careful consideration of facts and evidence. As the legal process continues, it is essential to allow for a thorough examination of the events in question and to uphold the principles of fairness and justice.
