We are deeply saddened to report on a recent robbery incident that occurred on the Odumase-Badu road, near Sunyani, in the Bono Region. The Ghana Police Service has taken swift action and arrested one suspect in connection with the attack, which targeted students and lecturers of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) as they were returning from a field trip.

Tragically, a student named Abdul Aziz Issah lost his life during the attack, and our hearts go out to his family and loved ones. Additionally, six other students sustained minor injuries but have since been treated and discharged.

We commend the quick response of the Police highway patrol teams, whose intervention led to the arrest of one individual. However, we understand that the suspect's accomplices are still at large. As such, a manhunt is currently underway to ensure that all those involved in this heinous act are brought to justice.

The safety and security of our students, faculty, and community members are of utmost importance, and we are working closely with the authorities to support their efforts in addressing this unfortunate incident.

We urge anyone with information related to the robbery to come forward and assist the police in their investigation. It is only through collective vigilance and cooperation that we can ensure the safety of our communities.

Our thoughts remain with the victims and their families during this difficult time. We will continue to provide updates on any developments related to this incident as they become available.

We stand united against such acts of violence and remain committed to upholding the safety and well-being of all members of our academic community.
